Join us at The Nature Museum on April 18th from 10 -2 for a journal making workshop. The art of upcycling involves creating art with items that are considered waste. In this workshop, you will create a beautiful and unique journal using recyclable materials. Not only is this a great way to take care of mother earth, but it is also easy on the wallet . . . you don’t have to spend a lot of money on supplies to make a book – your recycle bin contains many creative possibilities! Participants will create paste paper and explore a variety of bookmaking techniques using recycled materials. You will also learn how to bind your book using a coptic stitch.
Upon completion of the workshop, each participant will leave the class with a finished handmade journal. Participants are encouraged, but not required, to bring some of their own recycling materials, such as cereal boxes, magazines, book pages, interesting labels, bubble wrap, paper bags, styrofoam trays and any other materials that you think can be used in the journal making process. No previous experience is required – this is a great class for a beginner.
This event is offered as a two-part series in creating and filling a nature journal. Drawing in a Nature Journal is on April 25th — sign up for both events and get $10 off the registration.
