Fish on the Move

This Saturday, May 21st, we will be opening the Fish Ladder Visitor's Center in Bellows Falls, shy of the official season open date of Friday, May 27th, in order to celebrate World Fish Migration Day

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service crafted the video below to give a concise overview of why the ability for fish to move freely is a key indicator of the overall health and robustness of local environments.

It's great video to watch with your kids before you head over to say hello at the center! We will be open from 10am - 4pm; come on by!

We’ve all seen migrating birds, but did you know fish migrate too? We just usually don’t see them moving. Out of sight...out of mind.

But what if we could see what’s happening in their underwater world? We’d see movement - lots of movement.

Did you know fish migrate just like birds? Migratory fish play an important role in nature. Think about the ways we can work to keep rivers open so fish can move freely from place to place!
