Our popular Summer Unplugged continues this summer in all-outdoor settings! The Nature Museum's Jay DeGregorio, an environmental educator, will lead programming recommended for children ages 4 and up.
Our programming format will be understandably different as we will be not integrating shared hands-on materials and close-contact activities into our program like we usually do. This new program format has its challenges but we’re confident that we can still provide a unique learning experience. We ask for your patience, understanding, and teamwork in following new requirements to keep everyone safe and comfortable in learning together again.
All programs will be outdoors. Please plan accordingly. We’ve selected places at each location that make the most of natural shade. But, please plan as if you will be in the sun! We suggest bringing a blanket or chairs to sit on, water, bug spray, and sun protection.
Please Note: Registration is required and is limited to 20 participants, and health protocols must be followed, see below for details.
Location for July 29th at 10:30: The Whiting Library, Chester, VT 10:30
Homes In Nature
We’ve all been spending a bit more time at our homes these days. What is your home like? Most animals need shelter to survive just like us. Many animals also have homes! Animal homes come in many different shapes, sizes, and types. Some find a home that nature has provided while others build their homes like we do. From nests and hives to dens and burrows, animal homes are everywhere. We’ll discover much more about animal homes and even view some real ones!
Preregistration is required for this free event, and we have a limit of 20 participants.
Registration
Register by sending an email with number of children and adult participants to the Whiting Library at:
Thanks to Great River Hyrdo, owner of the hydroelectric power plant in Bellows Falls for sponsoring these community outreach programs!
Health Protocols — Please Read!!
The Nature Museum is excited to offer safe and engaging free environmental education opportunities during this new normal. With these new challenges we’re committed to continuing to adapt and provide environmental education to the best we are capable of. The Nature Museum’s top priority is the safety and well-being of all participants, staff, and the communities that we’re a part of. We know that’s a top priority for you all too. With that being said, we ask for your help by making any programs delivered by The Nature Museum as safe and enjoyable as possible.
