Date: August 9, 2016
Ages: 10 to 14 years old
Location: Nature Museum at Grafton
Wild Walkers is a partnership between The Nature Museum and Vermont Wilderness School, offering day-long outdoor experiences for youth ages 10 to 14. The Wild Walkers will learn outdoor knife skills, carving, whittling and fire skills which they will use to create a coal burned spoon or a carved bow drill set. These primary survival skills will be taught with safety in mind and with the utmost respect for the tools that will be used. The campers will gain a new found sense of accomplishment and confidence in their new wilderness survival abilities.
The Wild Walkers will explore using their senses while in nature by tracking animals, wilderness navigation, foraging, fire-making, outdoor cooking, and more. This camp will activate the body and engage the mind through wilderness awareness. Experienced instructors from Vermont Wilderness School guide kids in a safe, fun, respectful experience of living close to the earth. At Wild Walkers, youth build self-confidence and resiliency outdoors while learning ancient wilderness skills.
