Black bears are one the largest native mammals that live in northern New England. Did you know that black bears aren't true hibernators? Whether young or old, come learn about what they eat, where they live, and how they survive during the winter months. There will be a bear story reading as well as the opportunity to investigate and touch a bear pelt, paw, claw, and skull!
“Discover Black Bears” is a part of a series of special summer programming that we are offering on Fridays and Saturdays at the Fish Ladder Visitor Center for all ages. These free drop-in sessions are led by Jay DeGregorio, one of our Environmental Educators. This program is made possible with the generous support of Great River Hydro, owners of the hydroelectric plant in Bellows Falls on the Connecticut River.
